Filling the Tank at Christmas.
Motoring down the road, windows open, radio blaring, Steve smiled as he wound through the beautiful countryside. All was bliss until the car sputtered, jerked, and then stalled. In disbelief, he peered down at the gas gauge… it read “Below E.”
He was stuck, in the middle of nowhere. He glanced at his cellphone. No signal. It would take a miracle for him to get out of this mess.

Ohhh Daddy look at the big monkey!
With that, my son pointed at the gorilla at the Bronx Zoo. He said those words in early September 2007, nearly 10 years ago! Shortly after that, the gorilla got up and raced towards my two children, startling them. My son, then nearly 2 ½, shrieked in horror, and my daughter ducked behind me for cover.

Stunning! Breath-taking! Vivacious!
I can still remember the first time I met the young woman who became my wife. Those eyes: big, bright, and brown….
…….That smile, it reached from ear to ear and brilliant!
………………..Her laugh…well ok her laugh was loud and obnoxious, but the truth is it was also infectious.
She had caught my attention and my interest. And so, throwing caution to the wind, I pursued her relentlessly.
I knew who she was, but I didn’t know her yet. Little did I realize that in getting to know her, I would learn more about God’s love and God’s grace than I ever thought.

Beaming with gratitude and hope.
Those words aptly describe the face of my student after I had granted him an extension on his assignments. He hadn’t asked for one, but I knew that he was struggling with issues outside the class that were impacting his performance in class. I knew he had the ability to do the work. I knew he had the desire to get it done, but he lacked the time, and concern was etched on his face.
