About livingtheoverflowingcup

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He sent me to proclaim freedom to the prisoners and recovery of sight to the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor
 (Luke 4:18-19a).”

Welcome to livingtheoverflowingcup.com! I’m here to share with you the good news that God’s presence is all around us, and that in all things, we can have an amazing encounter with God – if we are open to it!

There was a time when depression and despair were clouds that not only  blocked the sun, but formed a dense fog around every aspect of my life. I trudged that fog daily – blind to goodness all around me. I hated God for the way He made me and was angry at Him for many things that had happened to me. Finally, I got to the point where I believed that to feel nothing would be better than continuing to suffer. I believed the lie and caused myself and others so much more suffering.

My name is Larry.

I am no longer merely a survivor or just in recovery. I am a thriver! Today, I am a husband, father, teacher, EMT, son, brother, nephew, and friend. Today, I am a living witness to the power of God. I walk the Road to Emmaus daily…encountering, acknowledging, and responding to God’s grace –  and helping others to do the same.

What matters today is not what was or what happened. What matters is who I have become and who I am becoming -I do not regret the past nor wish to shut the door on it, but who I am today, most certainly, is due to God’s grace and mercy.  God’s grace and blessing comes in many forms, and every moment of every day affords me the opportunity to encounter with a living and loving GOD.

All I need to do is be aware of His presence, acknowledge Him, and respond to Him, not just in serene and mystical moments but in the midst of the ordinary and in the chaos of life. That is the greatest miracle – the ordinary becomes sacred in our recognition that God lives, speaks, and moves in subtle and unexpected ways. My prayer is that in these pages you will come to see God’s hand active in your life, that the life you live is truly overflowing with God’s abundant grace and mercy!

Let's be companions on the Road to Emmaus where we will encounter, acknowledge, and respond to God's presence among us! Register today for my weekly blog to experience the many ways God enters our lives!
